4 of 5 stars.The Basics: So, this novella follows the events in The Elite through Aspen's point of view. The reader gets to see how Aspen feels about Mer (America) though we pretty much know already. We also get some insight into Aspen's job as a guard in the palace. We learn more about the injections that certain officer's receive (which seems a bit like steroids) and we get some insight into the attacks on the palace and Aspen's role in combating the rebels.
My Thoughts: I enjoyed this novella. I actually like reading from Aspen's perspective more than Maxon's in The Prince. I like that Aspen thinks so much about his family and sends money frequently. It makes me like him so much more, but I have always been Team Maxon. Either way, it was nice reading from Aspen's point of view, though it would have been nice to see how the relationship between him and Lucy started and escalated.
