The Basics: This drama filled, murder mystery follows Daryl Graham, a new neighbor occupying apartment 3B in a busy building in Queens, NY. Once Daryl moves into the building, things get crazy. Nancy, dubbed the Queen B of the stoop gossipers, keeps the gossip going though she is cheating on her husband with Ben. Ben is learning to live with his son's new found interest in Daryl and their lives are turned upside down once an unexpected death occurs. Connie and her conniving husband, Avery, are going through a rough time that only gets rougher once Avery asks for a divorce. Krystal, Avery's cocaine addicted daughter, has a relationship with Daryl, which only gets sticky once she becomes engaged to Slim. Among this all, there is an investigation into the death of one neighbor which turns out to be a mind blower once the reader gets to the Epilogue.

My Thoughts: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I have read many other books by Carl Weber and I love his ability to tell an intriguing story. This is his first time dabbling into the mystery genre and I would say it was a big hit. I kept putting this book off for no reason in particular, but that was a big mistake. I love how Weber intertwined the loves of all the characters. As the story continued, it was so exciting to make the connection that a few characters would eventually run into each other and it would have a bad effect.
Connie was by far my favorite character because I could totally relate to her situation. The Epilogue made me like her even more. Weber has hinted that he would possibly make a sequel and I would definitely read it. But I still have one question: Did Connie kill Krystal's mother or was it actually a suicide?

Anyway, this book was awesome.

Remember, teachers read fun stuff too!
